Al-Mansour Journal https://journal.muc.edu.iq/index.php/journal en-US Al-Mansour Journal Reclaimed Concrete Slabs Strengthened using CFRP Plate Strips Under Modified Repeated Loading https://journal.muc.edu.iq/index.php/journal/article/view/551 <p>The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the performance and residual strength of four reclaimed concrete one-way slabs. Three of the slabs were strengthened with near surface mounted carbon fiber reinforced plastic (NSM CFRP), and all of the slabs were presented in order to investigate the influence of various parameters on the structural behavior of each of the slabs. The experimental program consists of casting and evaluating a total of four samples, which are then separated into two primary categories. These groups were classified based on the manner in which they were loaded (monotonic, and modified repeated). Those slabs had a comparable shape and dimensions of 1200 mm by 600 mm by 140 mm. The experimental inquiry was expanded to include the study of many characteristics, such as the influence of increased CFRP strip thickness and the different types of loads on the maximum load capacity and load-deflection response. The results indicated that increase the added FRP strips area has a small effect on the cracked to ultimate load (???????????? / ???? ????) percent, where the percent of (???????????? / ???? ????) was 25 and 28 for reference slab without CFRP, and slab with CFRP of 1.2mm in thickness under monotonic load respectively, also adding CFRP strips has an effect on the ultimate load, the increase of adding CFRP strips area increased the failure load by about 3.1 for specimens slab with CFRP of 1.2mm in thickness with respect to the specimen reference slab without CFRP for monotonic load tests. The percent of ????u (slab with CFRP of 1.2mm in thickness under repeated loads) / ???? ???? (slab with CFRP of 1.2mm in thickness under monotonic loads) was 91.6 %. Adding CFRP strips has an effect on the cracking load in repeated load less than in monotonic load test, where the increase of adding CFRP strips area increased the cracking load by about 37.2% for slab with CFRP of 2.4mm in thickness with respect to the specimen slab with CFRP of 1.2mm in thickness under repeated load test. Repeated loads give crashing at the top fiber of slab, this is due to the effect of repeated loads which causes degradation of concrete stiffness and increased crashing of concrete.</p> Nameer N. Several restriction rules have been forced to reduce the virus spreading. Masks that are properly fitted can help prevent the virus from spreading from the person wearing the mask to others. Masks alone will not protect against COVID-19; they must be used in conjunction with physical separation and avoidance of direct contact. The fast spread of this disease, as well as the growing usage of prevention methods, underscore the critical need for a shift in biometrics-based authentication schemes. Biometrics systems are affected differently depending on whether are used as one of the preventive techniques based on COVID-19 pandemic rules. This study provides an overview of biometrics systems and approaches in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The fundamental COVID-19 prevention rules are first reviewed. The relationships between each regulation and the biometrics that may be impacted are then thoroughly investigated. Present study, the performance of reinforced lightweight concrete shear walls under the effect of seismic loads is considered with different loading types as static as equivalent static analysis and dynamic as time history analysis applied to reinforced concrete frame buildings with and without the presence of reinforced lightweight concrete shear walls. The models are simulated using the finite element method by SAP2000 software. Displacements, drifts, building performance, and base shear are evaluated for all cases of loading. The analysis results indicated that the presence of reinforced concrete shear walls led to reduced displacements, drifts, and increases in frequency under static seismic load and also reduced deformation under time history loading and an additional increase in base shear resistance with more stability and an increase in overall stiffness of the building. Also, include the results. The base shear resistance of Normal weight building with lightweight shear walls (NWB-LWS) is lower than that of Normal weight building with normal weight shear walls (NWB-NWS) due to the reduced building mass. The applied static and dynamic loadings did not cause any structural members to fail That is, by using different methods of seismic analysis.
